Maraya left Fiji in 2000 to join the British Army as a chef at 19 straight after completing sixth form. She served for five years with the Royal Army Dental Corps as a dental nurse and then supported her family during her husband's postings to Germany and Canada.
Maraya started her journey in the health & social care sector as a night carer in 2015, working her way up to the role of senior carer and then team leader. She then became a deputy and finally a registered home manager, working first in a new-build residential and dementia care setting and then in a nursing home.
A member of her local church, Maraya enjoys attending Bible studies and services and is always happy to help out with events. Outside of work, she also enjoys supporting her boys with their rugby, playing netball, gardening, reading, and meeting new friends.
