Frances Barker

Trustee

Frances is a recently retired solicitor, who practised as a specialist in employment law as an equity partner. She acted for both employers and employees, providing commercial, strategic advice and tribunal advocacy, always with a passion for justice and common sense. She was a well-known provider of training and the founder of the Suffolk HR Forum.

In retirement, as a trustee of several organisations, Frances seeks to apply her broader professional skills — rejoicing that she no longer has to charge for her time! She is a Freeman of the City of London and a serving magistrate.

Frances grew up with parents who cared for many older people and led the opening of the Cherith Home in The Midlands. In her youth, she worked in Christian care homes for about two years and has since cherished her close involvement in the lives of elderly Christians. Combining this with her legal and commercial experience, Frances was invited to join the Pilgrims' Friend Society Board of trustees in July 2025.

She is an active member of Kesgrave Baptist Church and enjoys time with family, travelling, the countryside, and her garden.
