Purpose

Out and about in the local area

Pilgrim Gardens backs onto 44 acres of public parkland, Evington Park, while the historical village of Evington also boasts a village green and arboretum, as well as a well-stocked village centre just 400m away with a few grocery shops, a chemist, a post office, a library, a café, a fish and chip shop, restaurants and a pub.

The closest doctors’ surgery is 300m away, with a post box and a bus stop 200m away. There are about five buses an hour going into the city of Leicester and the journey takes about 15 minutes.

For those who are able there is a vast choice of local churches and many of the local ministers and church leaders support Pilgrim Gardens with pastoral visits and taking our morning devotions. Some of the local churches offer activities for retired people during the week such as fellowship meals with a Bible talk and day trips, which many of our residents take advantage of.

A little extra support

For those with extra needs there are care agencies locally who serve the residents here at Pilgrim Gardens, and if the need is cleaning, laundry or shopping then Pilgrim Gardens offers a series of Wellbeing Packages.

Just next door is the Evington Home, a residential care home also run by Pilgrims’ Friend Society, which offers the opportunity for spouses to remain close to each other, even though their needs may differ considerably. If the time comes for you to need 24-hour care, moving into Evington Home makes such a significant life change simple and stress-free.
